Hearts Build a Home

Good morning!  Today’s card is special to me.  My family has moved a lot over the past 20 years or so, and I’ve learned not to get too attached to physical properties.  It’s not the house that makes the home – it’s the people and the love inside it.  I certainly understand the nostalgia that goes along with visiting a house you grew up in, especially because my parents still live in the same house that I lived in from the time I was 5 until I was 20.  However, the memories are tied to emotional moments and people more than any physical or tangible “thing” – does that make sense?  Anyway, I believe that you make “home” wherever you are by filling it with love and memories, friends and family:

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

This sandcastle image was from Making Our Mark but I can't seem to find them online anymore.  I colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and used some paper scraps from my stash, along with a ribbon & a heart-shaped gem sticker embellie.  Peace.

You're the Best!

Good morning!  It's Monday but I have the day off... it's the last day of my little mini-vacation, so I'm going to read my new Stephen King book and lay out in the sun at my mom's!  Wanted to get this posted before I go:

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

This is the Father's Day card I made for my dad.  I love this little hippie from The Paper Shelter - I colored her with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  Papers are from Penny Black, peace sign embellishments are from my stash. The little yellow flower brad is from SU! and the sentiment is a sticker from SRM Stickers. Peace.

Fun in the Sun: Beach Dan

Happy Friday!  I am SO excited - I'm leaving in a few hours to go get a new tattoo.  I can't wait to share it with you, come back tomorrow for pics!

Today I have a card I'd like to enter into the following challenges:

I used Beach Dan from the set called Little Rosie and Dan Beach Time - I colored him with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and markers and I also used paper-piecing for his cap and his beach blanket.  Papers are from doodlebug design inc. - I thought this card cute and busy enough as it was, so I left the embellishments off (which was hard for me).  LOL  :)  Have a great weekend!  Peace.

Our sponsor is SLS Lines, they have some fantastic digis!  I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

I used Goth Girl with Top Hat and colored her with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits.  I used some newsprint DP for the background and smudged the edges with red ink.  Added a small ribbon tag and some red gemstone stickers.  One of my favorite techniques is fussy-cutting, and one of my favorite products is my Dymo Caption Maker - I love being able to create any sentiment I want on a whim.  The different colored tapes make it even more fun.  Peace.

Congrats on Your Graduation

Good morning!  I made my first pineapple upside down cake yesterday - take a peek:

I'm having company for dinner, making Korean style short ribs and serving the cake as dessert.  I hope it tastes as good as it looks!  If you're interested, I used the recipe from here.  I took the advice from some of the comments and did not frost my cake - there is so much butter & sugar in this cake, I didn't want our teeth to fall out after eating it!  LOL  I also went with a one-layer 9x13 cake instead of using 2 9-inch round cake pans.  My cake did not bubble up or boil over, as some of the comments mentioned.  I'm also wondering if some people didn't catch the fact that you need to use cake flour rather than regular flour.  Using regular flour would cause the cake to come out thicker and more dense, like bread.  If you don't have cake flour, I'll tell you how to make it really fast - for every cup of flour that you need, take out 2 T of flour and replace it with 2 T of cornstarch.  Sift together and you now have cake flour.  You're welcome.  :)

Today I have another graduation card to share:

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges:

I used my Silhouette to create the cap & scroll, used gold embossing powder all over the edges of the card, added some Washi tape and finished it off with the little ticket stamp from Scrapalicious Times Sentiments.  Peace.

Eiffel Tower Birthday Card

Good morning!  Today I have a birthday card to share:

I used some designer paper that I have had forever (I tend to gravitate towards bright colors and cutesy or gothic/emo styles), added a  piece of Washi tape and some fun little stickers I had in my stash as embellishments (the bag of bread, the croissants, and the cup of "cafe").  I cut out a die cut of the Eiffel Tower with my Silhouette and added the text with my Dymo Caption Maker.  Peace.

Digi My World - Kawaii Ice Pops

Happy Monday!  Rainy day today - we haven't had rain in weeks, so even though I miss the sunshine today I am glad we're getting some much-needed rain.  Today is my turn to post over at:

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:

I printed Kawaii Ice Pops onto white cardstock and then again onto some orange designer paper (designer papers are by doodlebug design inc.) and paper-pieced it.  Embellishments are cut-outs from the paper pack, clean and simple yet loads of fun!  These images make the perfect Summer cards.  Have a fantastic week. Peace.
